Limerick – Jemsbooks – Jesse!

Jesse the Precocious Polar Bear

I’m having a wonderful time writing limericks for my nine young children’s books! I hope you are enjoying them too! If you missed the previous ones go to Louey, Ricky, Lamby, and Jerry.

Here’s the next limerick for my fifth published book, Jesse the Precocious Polar Bear (2014).

Jesse the Precocious Polar Bear

There once was a Polar Bear named Jesse,
Who only wanted to have a special bestie.
He saved a little seal
From being a meal.
Now his kindness earned a friendship for Jesse.

Jesse the Precocious Polar Bear is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Create Space and other online stores.

Blurb:

Jesse is a precocious and very intelligent polar bear. He likes to learn about everything but what polar bears are supposed to know. Jesse has a couple of surprising adventures and learns an important lesson.

Jemsbooks’ children’s books are written in rhyme with life lessons. The stories help to instill in children the importance of being polite, respectful and kind toward others. Jesse teaches children that friends are important and that kindness towards others has its own reward.

This book was dedicated to a little boy I met while on vacation in Aruba four years ago. He was talking to me while we were in the water and I told him I write children’s books. I asked him which animal was his favorite. He responded, “Polar bear.” I promised to write a book about a polar bear just for him. Well, here it is! He did love it!

Janice and John Spina, a creative husband and wife team, have done it again. Mr. Spina’s wonderful illustrations add loveliness to the delightful story told in rhymes by Mrs. Spina. As in the author’s previous books for children, the ursine protagonist in “Jesse the Precocious Polar Bear” is conferred with human attributes that resonate with children, such as curiosity, a need to socialize, and protectiveness of a good friend. Jessy, who is want of friends, finds one in a baby seal. When the little seal’s safety is threatened, Jesse protects him and shields him from harm. The precocious and kind little polar bear is rewarded in time, as he himself is eventually saved from dangerous waters by the same baby seal.

“Jesse the Precocious Polar Bear” is the fifth in the Spina team’s series of charming kid books that entertain while they instill good values and impart important life lessons. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 starsA fun, educational, and positive book that leaves the reader with a good feeling.

As with other children’s books by Janice and John Spina, this sweet rhyming story teaches young children all about friendship. As always, the illustrations are unique and the characters are wonderful! It is written in simple, basic, easy-to-understand language that children can freely relate to. The story has a good message that resonates with children. It is easy to use in discussions about friendship and how to make real friends. This book makes a lovely bedtime story, which opens the door for a lot of great conversations. Young children will definitely appreciate reading about the elements of friendship from a point of view that discusses them so meaningfully without dumbing them down. It is written in such a way that the child is fully engaged in the topic of the story. The illustrations convey each point of the action and they help the child understand the emotions of characters. The artwork is simple, but that’s what makes this book unique. It’s a very humble book describing how friends help each other. A good book to teach children a basic lesson about friendship!

Jesse wants a friend. Jesse doesn’t do what little polar bears are supposed to do. While not minding his mother, Jesse gets into trouble and is saved by an unlikely friend. This adorable story emphasizes not only the need to follow instructions, but also how to be a loyal friend. This darling storybook is beautifully illustrated by the author’s husband. It is sure to keep any young child entertained while teaching valuable lessons.

Jesse the Precocious Polar Bear is a fun and adventuresome story for children to read or have someone else read to them. The drawings are well suited to the story and will keep children engaged as they follow along with Jesse on his adventures. As with all Jemsbooks children will learn a valuable life lesson. In this story the lesson is about paying attention to one’s parent when they are teaching you something important and also about the value of friendship. Children will enjoy the ending of all Jemsbooks where the ending is really the end of each animal. It is a comical touch by the illustrator.
