Davey & Derek Junior Detectives Book 2 – The Case of the Mysterious Black Cat

I am happy and blessed to say my middle-grade book 2 has received some lovely five-star reviews. Thank you, reviewers, for your kindness in reading and reviewing my book.

To authors reviews are how we spread the word about our books and make us stand out on Amazon. I am deeply grateful for each review I receive. Please spread the word when you read a book, any book. Tell your family, tell your friends, tell your mailman, your doctor, your pharmacist, tell anyone who will listen. That is how J. K. Rowling’s books reached such incredible sales.

You, the readers, have that power to make unknowns famous. Help an unknown, struggling author reach heights. There are some wonderful authors who are yet to be discovered. We authors need your help. We write for you.

Here are a few of the wonderful reviews which have warmed my heart and brought grateful tears to my eyes. I thank you all for taking the time to put your reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. Writing is what I love to do and with your continued readership and support I will joyfully continue to do just that with God’s help.

This is a great little book for young readers! There are so many twists and turns throughout. Just when you think you have it figured out, something unexpected pops up in the story. The story is very engaging and will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. It is a magical book full of fun and entertains throughout. I wish I had one of those crystal balls that Aunt Gigi has. The classroom settings reminded me of when I was a young boy and the episodes that went on during class. Great read for youngsters!

Being a grandparent and an avid reader I am always on the lookout for good clean books for my grandkids. Davey and Derek’s Aunt and Uncle settle in town after years of worldly travel, but there is something different about the Aunt that sets her apart from most Aunts – she is a good witch blessed with the gift of magic – one of which is her long deceased cat whoes aura lives on in a crystal ball and still tries to help people. Davey and Derek learn they to have a few magical powers of their own one of which is the cat trying to communicate with them and warn them one of their friends is going to get into serious trouble. The question is can they use this magic and prevent a catastrophy? Cute story – clean- refreshing – and not preachy. The Case of the Mysterious Black Cat will keep a young mind intrigued and reading way past their bedtime.

Davey and Derek, twin boys, like to play detectives, since their mum bought them a book about an detective.
In the first book they had already fun with and now in the second book, written by Janice Spina, they are going on a hunt again.

After school they have to go to their aunt Gigi, until their mum is coming home from work. And there they help their aunt unpacking some boxes. And what they find there, amazes them but frighten them as well. A Chrystal ball with a black cat.

The next day Mickies sister was missing. Mickey was their best friend and helped them in their detective work. Now, will they find his sister? And most amazingly, how they find her?

Very well written. I recommend that book not only for youngsters, for the young in heart as well.

Just received another exciting review yesterday below! Thank you Deanie!

Janice Spina has crafted another amazing story for young adults! Congratulations, Janice! This time, twins Davey and Derek learn some amazing secrets from their Aunt Gigi. Many exciting events occur. Even Davy, the practically perfect student gets in a little jam in school. But the most mesmerizing part of the story involves newly discovered powers of Davey and Derek. Something potentially tragic happens to their friend Mickey’s little sister. Davey and Derek look to Aunt Gigi and her mysterious black cat to help them rescue Mickey’s sister. You’re sure to love this story as much as I did. You’ll hate to put it down! I highly recommend this wonderful story.

    Excellent… well done, and well-deserved! 🙂

  2. Congratulations, Janice, on your 5 star reviews.

  3. J Lapis says:

Bravo, Janice–I’m happy for your success! I got to thinking about kids’ and youth books–I can’t recall the author, but “Alexander and the Terrible…Day” was brilliant; and I could probably reread the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series today with as much pleasure as when I was “young”. If I weren’t low-income, I’d be sending mega checks to support literacy programs–books and reading are every bit as crucial to health and wellness as nutritious food and water. PS–thanks again for stopping by my party!
